College Must Haves 101 - It's Raining! I need my.....Sunglasses?

With the start of the new school year present and in full force, campus activities are just beginning. First sports games of the season promote school spirit. Philanthropies begin rushing new members. Campus organizations set out to boost this year’s involvement.

 

As a college student, I’m given countless opportunities to join an organization. I’m also given countless reminders that they have a presence here on campus. Since the first day of class a little over a month ago, I’ve acquired two cups, a handful of pens, two pairs of sunglasses, one water bottle, two lanyards, a usb charger (how cool?!), two bags, and enough fliers to fill each bag. It’s settling to know that if I decide to study out on the lawn, I’ll be equipped with enough shade, drinks, and scrap paper to get me through my torturous Copyright Law assignment.

Classmates walk around in shirts promoting their current organization or favorite campus band. I call them walking billboards. I often hear “If you have any questions, look for one of us in ‘this’ t-shirt.” It’s genius, really! Sororities and fraternities set certain days of the week to wear their symbols. RayBan style sunglasses are a huge hit this year (even when the sun isn’t shining…. Really?). Promotional marketing tools are everywhere on a college campus.
